SNI License Registration in Indonesia

Standar Nasional Indonesia or SNI is a license in Indonesia that certifies the quality of the products being sold in the country. It is important to note that the SNI license registration process in Indonesia is organized collaboratively by Badan Standardisasi Nasional (BSN), Komite Akreditasi Nasional (KAN), and Lembaga Sertifikasi Produk (LSPro). The ultimate aim is to protect the consumer, allowing them to consume products with adequate standards of safety and quality.

List of SNI-Mandatory products in Indonesia

  1. Food: mineral water and packaged drinks, biscuits, salt, instant coffee, cooking oil, wheat flour
  2. Transportation: vehicle tyres, helmet, bike
  3. Electricity: batteries, cable, fan and air conditioner, iron, refrigerator and washing machines, light switch
  4. Agriculture: organic fertilizer, solid NPK fertilizer, SP-36 fertilizer, ammonium sulfate fertilizer, natural phosphate fertilizer,  kalium chloride fertilizer, urea fertilizer 
  5. Household items: liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), ceramic and melamine cutlery, seated closet, gas stove, electric toys, cloth, children and babies clothing

SNI Registration Documents

Business ID Number (NIB), Tax ID Number (NPWP), and Importer Identification (API).

Name and address of producer and exporter, name and material of the product.

Purchasing, reception, purchasing, storage, processing, packaging, distribution.

ISO 9001: Quality Management System (QMS) certificate certified by KAN or certificate from other (QMS Institution recognized by KAN.

SNI Registration Procedures

Before registering your product for SNI certification, you must make sure that the SNI for your product in general is already formulated by the BSN and accredited by KAN. After that, you must fill the SPPT SNI form. Alongside the form, you must also prepare an ISO 9001:2000 certificate (or certificate of similar types if it’s for an imported product from overseas). After filling up the form, the submission will be verified by LSPro. Further discussions will be done regarding the location of the audit. After the submission is verified, you will also be asked to complete the payment. After that, the authorities will check your Quality Management System (QMS). Upon the completion of the QMS check, LSPro will assess and test the quality of your product in a lab. Should your product meet all the criteria, you will obtain the SNI license.
